What is the role of role of derivatives in uplifting the financial market in Asian countries like India ?

Derivative is a very strong financial tool.In emerging markets like India,Singapore,Thailand and Taiwan,how derivative has played a role in contributing to the overall financial market of the respective countries,particularly I would like to know how derivative has influenced the overall market index of the countries,the trend seen in the market index after introduction of derivative exchange in these countries where derivative securities are traded.
